Per la nuova Disney Land in Cina, Pechino ha concesso un'autorizzazione che mette in competizione Shanghai con Hong Kong. Dopo più di dieci anni di trattative la National Development and Reform Commission, l'agenzia più potente del Governo ha espresso il via libera per la costruzione del primo Magic Kingdom nella Cina continentale. Le sue preoccupazioni sono dunque comprensibili e porteranno probabilmente ad una ridefinizione dell' offerta: shopping e turismo di massa, saranno lasciati progressivamente a Shanghai, mentre il parco di Hong Kong sarà collegato all' unicità della città e a temi più sofisticati come la protezione dell' ambiente, l'armonia della natura, la tradizione culturale cinese.
