washing machines are not all equal, but in most cases, the operating principle and the general rules that govern it are always the same.
Here, we report the pattern of all the major components that are contained in a washing machine and how they interact during a wash cycle:
The timer or selector program
is the brain of the whole system and serves as the real controller of the various components. When part of a wash cycle then takes place under the control of the selectors of the programs, the following steps:

First, there is a sensor in the lock door, used to verify appunto che questo sia ben chiuso, altrimenti l'intero ciclo non parte. Se invece questo avverte che l'oblò è ben chiuso parte il ciclo di lavaggio che come prima cosa manda un segnale ad un altro componente contenuto nel sistema di chiusura che lo blocca per evitare che questo possa essere aperto accidentalmente prima della fine del ciclo.
L'elettrovalvola di carico dell'acqua
Dopo aver bloccato l'oblò viene attivata una elettrovalvola che altro non è che un rubinetto elettrico che consente con la propria apertura, il caricamento dell'acqua necessaria al lavaggio.
Il cassetto del detergent

Ora che l'oblò è chiuso, l'acqua con il detersivo c'è, può partire il motore che fa girare il cestello ed abbina l'azione meccanica del movimento degli indumenti a quella chimica del detersivo sciolto nell'acqua.
La resistenza per il riscaldamento dell'acqua
Se la fase del programma che si sta eseguendo lo prevede, viene accesa la resistenza per scaldare l'acqua di lavaggio, ma per evitare che questa attivi a temperatura che possano rovinare gli indumenti c'è un apposito sensore di temperatura che in alcune lavatrici è collegato ad una manopola sistemata sul pannello frontale della lavatrice in modo da poter selezionare al raggiungimento di quale temperatura dell'acqua dovrà essere spenta la resistenza.
La pompa di scarico
Passato un certo tempo viene mandata l'alimentazione alla pompa di scarico in modo da far uscire l'acqua che è ormai sporca ed il motore viene alimentato in modo diverso per aumentarne la velocità ed avere l'effetto centrifuga che consente di strizzare i panni ed eliminare quanta più acqua possibile.
